How to Identify a Tapered Locking Bush

There are three ways to identify the correct Tapered Locking Bush.

Method 1: The Bush has a part number

If the bush has a visible part number, identification is straightforward.

Part numbers are typically in the format 2525-25

  • 2525 = Bush Series

  • 25 = Bore size (25mm)

For example, a bush marked 2525-25 is a 2525 series Tapered Locking Bush with a 25mm bore.

With this information, you can search: 2525-25 tapered locking bush using the search box at the top of the page. 

Method 2: The Bush has no part number, or is unreadable

If the part number is missing or unreadable, you will need two measurements.

  • Inside Diameter (Bore) of the bush

  • Outside diameter at the largest point of the Tapered Locking Bush

For example:

  • Bore: 24mm

  • Largest outside diameter: 38mm

Search for: 24mm tapered locking bush

Use the search box at the top of the page. On the results page, use the Outside Diameter drop-down filter to select the closest-matching size.

In this example, you would choose the option closest to 38mm.

Method 3: The bush is missing or too damaged to measure

If the bush is missing entirely or cannot be measured, you will need to measure:

  • The shaft diameter (this determines the bore size)

  • The largest diameter of the pulley or sprocket boss where the bush fits (this determines the bush series)

For example,

  • Shaft Diameter: 24mm

  • Pulley Boss Diameter: 38mm

Search for 24mm tapered locking bush using the search box at the top of the page.

Then use the Outside Diameter drop-down filter to find the closest match. In this example, the closest available outside diameter is 38.38mm, which identifies the correct bush.
