Description

Cylinder Type Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener: Capable of sharpening electric, petrol and even hand-propelled cylinder lawnmowers, the sharpener can be used on any size of cylinder mower blade but is ideal up to about 14 inches (35cm) blade width. The process is easy but first please ensure that your mower is safe by disconnecting the power supply (electric or battery mowers and in the case of a petrol mower please make sure the engine is cool It's a good idea to wear stout gloves when handling blades.

  • Flip the mower over such that the blades on the cylinder are in view.
  • Measure the sharpener against the bottom fixed blade and cut to the same length with a hacksaw.
  • Using the mowers adjustment screws move the fixed blade away from the cylinder.
  • Clean any debris from the blades and the fixed blade.
  • Push the sharpener into place over the fixed blade with the abrasive facing the rotating blade.
  • Tighten the adjustment screws until the rotating blade just touches the abrasive paper of the sharpener and the rotating blade can still be carefully rotated.


  • For hand-propelled mowers Push the mower around on a firm surface for approximately 2 minutes.
  • For electric/battery mowers Reconnect the power supply and switch it on for approximately 2 minutes.
  • For petrol-propelled mowers Start the engine and run for approximately 2 minutes.

    • Once completed check that the rotary cylinder blades are sharp, if not repeat the process by adjusting and adjust the blade closer to the sharpener. Once you are happy that the blade is now sharp, remove the sharpener and re-adjust your cylinder to fixed the blade gap, test and adjust further if necessary.
